Au revoir 2012

Saying goodbye to 2012 is very bittersweet. It has by far been the best year of my life! I really couldn't have dreamed of a better year! So here's a little recap of this amazefest of a year...

1. February 22, 2012 was a day that has forever changed my life. It was the day we found out I was pregnant. This day was filled with too many emotions to document but definitely happy, scared, nervous, elated. This day began a journey that has forever changed my life and I wouldn't have it any other way.

2. March 5, 2012 was our first ultrasound appointment. I remember being so nervous going in until I saw that little faint flicker on the screen and it was confirmed I was indeed pregnant and we could see our little babies heartbeat. What an incredible feeling! It really became real at this time, holy shit we're going to have a baby on October 19, 2012!

3. After much unrest at my former job where I had been employed right out of undergrad and had worked at for nearly 5 years, I made the extremely difficult decision to make a big change. I took an amazing offer to join the best and largest architectural firm in NM. It was a very scary, exciting and nerve-racking decision but has been one of the best decisions I've made in my career. There are a lot of opportunities for me, new projects and a great team to work with. I feel blessed and fortunate to work for such a great company. They were amazing to me during and now after my pregnancy. This was a HUGE change for me and set the tone for the rest of my year.

3. Our trip to Hawaii for the Crosby wedding. It was so much more than that though. We were able to have our last solo trip before our little bundle of joy would be here later in the year. It was an amazing trip! I got to know Allison, Ernest's sister, a lot better. We were able to share a lot of new, fun, beautiful and exciting things as a new family. The Crosby wedding was absolutely stunning and we were so happy to share in their special day. Amazing trip!

4. We found out we were having a GIRL! I always knew the baby was going to be a girl almost from the very beginning. We had so much fun making our families wait for the big gender reveal. We had them 'vote' on our chalkboard for boy or girl then the big reveal was a cake which was all pink inside. Everyone was so happy and excited! We were over the moon!

5. June 16th, 2012 the day my beat friend asked me to spend forever with him. We've been together for almost 12 years on an off! He took me to one of our favorite spots and popped the question and of course I was elated to say YES! Now to plan a wedding...or maybe a trip to Vegas!!

6. October 6, 2012. THE. BEST.DAY.OF.MY.LIFE. The day Autumn Jane made her debut into this world at 4:28am. Everyday since has been absolutely amazing as we watch our precious girl grow, change and become her own little person. I love her more and more everyday.

7. All year: Our family. Both new and old, our family just got a whole lot bigger as mine and Ernest's become one big family centered around Autumn. Our families are amazing! Including our first, puppy Jack!

While I bid farewell to the best year of my life, 2012, I welcome the exciting adventures we have planned for 2013...a wedding, more firsts for Autumn, her first birthday and mine and Ernest's 30th birthdays, plus much more!! Hello 2013 and Happy New Year!!!

NASA, we have giggles!

We have been waiting for this moment since the first smile we got from Autumn. We read it wouldn't happen until she was about four months old. But last night, 2 days before my babe turns 3 months old she did it...SHE GIGGLED!!! I know this may seem like a small milestone to some, but to us it was HUGE! My mom was over and had just finished changing her (which she loves) and she was standing up and bouncing on her changing table, assisted of course. She had the biggest smile and luckily I had enough sense to start recording her. Good thing because seconds later she had the cutest, sweetest, want to eat them up giggles. I died- it was seriously the cutest thing I've ever seen! Unfortunately her daddy wasn't there to be in on the action but he was blown away when I showed him the videos. I made a major video faux pas by not having my phone turned the right way but I was just too excited. Can't wait to see what other major milestones are coming up for us. She's been so busy lately talking to us, now laughing and I think a full rollover may be next!!

On the 11th week of Christmas...

Christmas Day may have been one of the most anticipated day in Autumn's life thus far. And it did not disappoint! It started Christmas Eve with some celebrations at my parents house with lots of family, food and fun. Then Christmas Day we woke up and took Autumn downstairs to check her stocking which was filled with an Elmo doll from Santa. We had a pick-nick on the floor by the Christmas tree and opened our presents together. Autumn, Jack and myself got Dad a new lunch box and water jug. I know, extremely exciting but we set a very small budget for presents for each other this year. Our biggest gift was baby Autumn, oh and medical bills, lots of medical bills. Anyhow, I got a new pair of headphones from Ernest (lets see if I can NOT destroy this pair!). And Ernest got Autumn a Gruffalo doll (super cute and she loves him!) and a book 'If Dinosaurs had Friends', or something to the effect, both of which she was very entertained with. Poor Jack got the shaft this year. He gets fed when we remember everyday. But seriously, he does get fed twice a day, sometimes it may just be brunch and a late dinner like us. His gift was Autumn as well, the jury is still out if he likes her! After we had our own little celebration, we went to my parents house to open more gifts, eat, visit then headed out to Ernest's families in Belen/Los Lunas. We had lots of fun opening gifts with everyone at each house. Autumn made out like a bandit!! The entire trunk was filled to the brim with gifts which are now consuming our entire kitchen table. She got such cute stuff, some useful stuff (a wipey warmer and womb sounding bear!) and best of all LOTS of love. I've said this a million times but I am so humbled by our families and their generosity and love!! They are all so amazing! My favorite gift, aside from Autumn of course, is an opal ring my parents gave me. It has three opals (Autumn, Ernest and me) which is also her birth stone. It's such a special gift and every time I look down at it I think of my beautiful baby girl. I have SO much love in my heart I could just melt!

OH and Autumn was finally able to meet her family from Colorado Springs, the Paywa's! They spent Saturday with her while I got a much needed haircut and as much time as they possible could the next few days (including lunch today!). We are so thankful they were able to finally meet her and spend Christmas with us.

Ten Weeks and the dreaded 'W' word

She's so happy in the morning!
She always has one arm out straight, I wish I knew why??? lol

We are all sad I had to go back to work :(
She was up early one morning and got ready with me. She loves watching me get ready! Looks like a Lollipop kid here!
Ten weeks old and this little girl has some serious attitude! She wanted nothing to do with the headband on her head or the camera in her face. Diva moments happen a lot in our house.
She loves her K-Tan carrier and now even more so...she can hold her head up so we're able to do the 'Adventurer' position and it's just awesome!
One second awake, kicking and talking. The next, fast asleep. Love this kid!

Well I'm super late posting yet again, but I wanted to make sure I got something in late or not. Week ten was a big week for us all. It was the week I've been dreading almost since the moment I found out I was pregnant...the week I went back to work, capital UGH!!! The first two days weren't as bad as I was imagining but the following 3 days were. I thought it was supposed to get easier, not harder?! We are fortunate enough to have great family coming to our house to watch Miss A (except for 2 days a week when we take her to Aunt Lucy's). It makes it easier because I can go see her on my lunch break. It does not change the fact that I have 8 hours less a day to spend with my beautiful girl. Without harping on the negatives too much, I hope to have a resolution within the next 6-12 months so I can be the one to stay home with Autumn every day. Lots of prayers and good thoughts are going out so we can come up with a plan to get me home!!!

Maternity Leave or Couch Stay-cation?

Like many other things throughout my pregnancy, birth and beyond, what I had planned and had such high hopes for is falling flat. I thought, while on maternity leave, I would be taking walks everyday, doing my post-baby workouts, organizing the spotless house, having gourmet meals, napping while the baby naps all whilst being mother of the year. FAIL!!! An average days actually gets started around ten, or later, Autumn gets a bath some days and dressed, fed, changed, try to get her to nap, unsuccessful but she's hungry again, repeat above. I'm lucky if I get a shower and even luckier if I can do my hair and makeup before 2pm. πŸ’Have I eaten yet?! Shit, nope! Nutrigrain bar and time to pump for the umpteenth time and you guessed it Autumn is hungry and pooped again. Exercise? I did once this week and was sore for 3 days! I manage at least one long walk a week, at least. the house is usually a disaster and dinner consists of whatever frozen meal from Costco is easiest to grab. My saving grace used to be the 3 hour nap Autumn used to take. Operative word being 'used'. My little vampire, I mean angelπŸ‘Ό, has decided naps are highly overrated and she'd rather watch mom with black circles under her eyes rummage around the messy house. I hope this is just a growth spurt!!

Anyhow, all my high hopes to be a maternity leave prowess have fallen short. Most days we're planted by the couch watching another episode of fix-my-whatever on HGTV or some made for TV movie on Lifetime. I do however spend quite a bit of time talking with Autumn, singing her silly made up songs because I rarely remember any lyric beyond the title of nursery rhymes, reading books to her, putting cute outfits on her then taking at least a gig worth of pictures of her, watching her nap (see above: refuses to nap except in my arms), feeding her, changing lots of poopy diapys, and pumping- a lot. I wouldn't change the fussiest-poopiest day for anything else! I may not be breaking any productivity records like I thought I would, but I am having a hell of a good time with baby A and trying to savor every cute little moment. Luckily I just got notice I get to take another TWO weeks off to stay with her!!!! I am beyond overjoyed at this news. I love our HGTV all day marathon couch-feeding-pumping-fashion show-photoshoot-concert-cuddleathons!!!! πŸ‘ŠπŸ’•πŸ˜

2 Months...Boom!!!

Again, I think I'll say this a million times, but where the hell has the time gone?! I cannot believe my sweet girl is two months old! I just spent the past few minutes going thru my camera roll and it seems like just yesterday I was pregnant but then again like its been an eternity since then.

Enough sap, this week has been a busy one! Autumn went thru a wicked growth spurt (hello zero sleep), had her two month checkup, got shots, spent the week with Grandma Jonette and I and saw SANTA! Whew! No wonder she's conked out now! She's growing well and is healthy as a horse! She did great seeing Santa, probably because she could tell what a creeper mall Santa he was but oh we'll we got some cute pics. We were mostly busy baking both for Christmas and for a holiday open house I did for Nicole's Boutique. I was there as a vendor for jem cakes.tumblr.com and it was a great experience! Not a huge turnout but I met some great people, made some bridal circuit connections and saw some brides looking for the perfect dress.

This coming week I will savor every last minute as its my last week before I go back to work. I feel slightly more ready for it, mostly because I need to bring in some dough and because I know ill have christmas and New Years to look forward to. Can't wait for Autumns first Christmas!! We already sent her list to Santa (real one, not the creeper!) πŸŒ²πŸ‘Š

Happy December!!!

Happy December means the 25 day countdown is on! Boom! We started off the official Christmas season off right by going to the River of Lights with Autumn's Aunt Allison, Great-Grandma Barbara, Juliana and Victoria. Celebrating GG Barbara's birthday today, it was the perfect birthday celebration. Autumn loved all the lights and just stared out in awe. She was a very good baby! she even took her first bus ride there! And now we're ending the evening by watching one or my favs, Elf! Bring on 25 days of Christmas movies on ABC Family, woohoo! As if I hadn't already started, ha!

We're looking forward to an exciting week with Grandma Jonette baking, taking Autumn for a trip to meet SANTA, walks in the bosque oh and some boring chores. But it's a week more I won't be at work and that's a win in my book! OH and I get to make a cake and cake pops for a bridal show I was asked to be a vendor at! I'm super excited, nervous and anxious to attend since I've never done anything like this. jem cakes debut here we come! Now to think of some amazeball cake ideas...
