Autumn's First Birthday Wish List

I've been thinking about what to get Autumn for her fast approaching first birthday, eeek! Honestly, I could probably get the kid a cardboard box, spatula, watermelon and a tube of mascara and she'd be occupied for hours. Hahahaha! But since 'Maybelline' sounds a little weird on a birthday list, I've put together some real things to get her.

I could categorize this list into two columns. 1. Stuff she'll actually enjoy and 2. Stuff I will really enjoy for her/stuff she needs . That's your right as a parent, to live vicariously through your child, right?! Right!!

These are all items that Autumn is surely to love. Some fabric magnet alphabets, books and other toys to help her learn and play.

We have been fortunate to have clothes from baby showers, gifts, etc. to last us to beyond her first year. But her winter clothes are lacking so it's time to stock up on some cute warm clothes (size 12 months +). Since you can now shop at H&M online, I was sure to pick lots of their cute stuff! I also couldn't resist some fun Halloween stuff and this awesome growth ruler!

Since family has been asking what to get Autumn...gift cards to Pottery Barn Kids, Gap, H&M, Target, or Etsy. are always great. Autumn will be in about 12 month clothes or 12-18 months.

I already bought Autumn her birthday gift from me. Shhhhh, don't tell her but it's a teepee! YAY! I'm so excited to decorate it with garland, twinkle lights and a cute rug.
The countdown is officially on! Only 39 more days til the big day! Somebody hold me, my little girl is growing up too fast! :(

46 Weeks and a Busy Weekend

How is it already Monday again? I was not ready for the weekend to end! We had so much to do and so little time. But somehow, some way we got everything in. Even with a horrible cold! What started as a sore throat last week quickly progressed into a bad cold and now bronchitis! Bleh! Nobody has time for that! So I put on my big girl boots, armed with cough drops and medicine, and got through our weekend.

Saturday I had a baseball baby shower cake due. I stayed up late Friday finishing that and delivered it Saturday morning. In my fog I completely forgot to take pictures except for one dark picture of an incomplete cake. Boo!
There were baseballs that said 'All Star' on top
After dropping off the cake, we did some Autumn birthday party shopping. Home Goods turned it up and had SO much fall/halloween goodness I could barely handle it! I wanted to buy everything in there but finally decided on just a few things. I'm thinking the crate will hold caramel apples and the basket can hold the burlap goodie bags for the kiddos. Still trying to figure out what the rest will be used for.
After lunch and a quick nap for Autumn, we were off to Brad and Stacy's gender reveal party. I couldn't help but think about our own gender reveal and how it felt like it was just yesterday! They did a box with balloons for the big reveal. It's a BOY!!! I'm beyond excited for them to welcome little Chase into the world come January. We may already be plotting Chase and Autumn's marriage for the future! haha. And now I can spoil this little tike with all the fun boy stuff out there! Once Autumn's birthday mania is passed, it's on to safari baby shower planning in November! I can't wait. I'm pretty sure I should change my career to party planner because I have way too much fun doing it!
Our vote was boy, we were right!
Daddy let her try cake and she loved it! Go figure.
Once we left the party, it was craziness trying to packup Autumn's overnight bag for Grandma and Grandpa's house. That's right, overnight. It was our very first night (well mine) being away from Autumn. I actually did better than I thought. I only checked in and looked at all her pictures once, lol. Once everything was ready, Grandma J picked her and Jack up for a sleepover. We were free for a night! Wootwoot! We went to the Lil Wayne concert (I know, we keep it gangsta) with some friends. Ernest's friend picked us up and took us so we could enjoy some drinks. We had an early sushi dinner and beers (yum!) then headed to the concert. It was pouring on the way over and I for sure thought it was going to be a repeat of the Luke Bryan concert! Thankfully it was not! The weather cleared and it was just hot as hell and humid, but no rain. We had SO much fun dancing it up! We were totally those old people at a concert intended for a much younger crowd. Who cares! YOLO!
Since we had the chance to sleep in, I took full advantage by sleeping til...8:30! What?! I guess that's late when I normally wake up at 5:30. Instead of relaxing and enjoying a cup of coffee in a quite house, I cleaned. I'm lame like that. Then it was off to get the babes. We went to see Autumn's Great-Grandparents up north. They were beyond excited to see her! She was loving all the attention and totally hamming it up for them. We had fun comparing my baby pictures (aka the shrine) to Autumn. We look pretty damn similar, even down to the same two-tooth grin!
Her Bieber hair
Once we finally got home it was time for some football! The 49er game to be exact. Ernest went to change Autumn and brought her down in her Niners jersey! Haha.
big girl food and plate!
Her Auntie Allison bought her this jersey while we were still in the hospital after Autumn was born. She used to swim in this little outfit but now it fits perfectly! I love seeing comparison pictures of her like this. Must buy two outfits in a year size difference. In the first picture, I remember dressing her up in all her Niners gear and putting her little headband on and she would just stare at me and smile. Now, she won't even let me hold her long enough to take a picture and just screams to get away! How 10 months has changed everything!
1 month vs. 10 months
I finally updated my chalkboard half assed (don't do this at 9pm on Sunday night) with some fall festiveness. Next up, Autumn's chalkboard since I'm seriously slacking on her weekly updates.
Hoping I get rid of this nasty cough and looking forward to a long weekend and the wine festival!!

A Pumpkin Party

I think this may be the first time ever that I am this far ahead of the game. I'm referring to party planning for Autumn's first birthday. I have a menu chosen, invites picked, her outfit ordered with matching headband and some decorations bought. Who is this?! I am notorious for being a last minute planner so being a month and a half ahead of the game is just blowing my mind. Boom.

Enough gloating. The theme is still fall-pumpkin-harvest-ish. Aka, everything pumpkin, caramel and orange! I haven't been able to find a 'kit of parts' for the party so I think I'll be making a lot of stuff myself and it'll be a cohesive (hopefully) hodge podge of stuff. Some of the ideas I have brewing are...

{giant photo number one} I've seen this all over Pinterest and couldn't resist. I have a trillion picture of Autumn and this is just perfect to display 1/8473 of them. I'll be ordering the pictures from Printstgram. You get 24 pictures for $12 and you choose your pics directly from Instagram. The best part, I can hang up all these pictures after the party. We'll have our very own Autumn shrine, haha!
{monthly banner} Another Pinterest find. Seriously, what did people do before Pinterest? All those monthly chalkboards I've been doing will pay off once I print them all out for this banner. I've been looking for some sort of clip with each month but have had no such luck. I did find these round chalkboard tags that would work. With a little craftiness and clothes pins, they'll work perfectly as a monthly counter. I already have a tassle garland of gold and silver, so with the addition of some orange tissue paper, the chalkboard tags and pictures it's going to look fab!
{stats board} These are so cute and a great way to snapshot all those one year stats and share with your party. Maybe it'd be fun to do a newborn vs. one year. Newborn: activity- eat, sleep, poop. Favorite Food: breastmilk. Done. Haha. Ok, maybe it wouldn't be that interesting. But isn't it amazing how much your babe has changed in a year?!
{treat bags} I saw these super sweet burlap bags that just scream fall to me. I plan on stamping them with a pumpkin or something and then filling them with goodies. Either some salted caramel popcorn, some 'one' rice krispies dipped to look like candy corn or some good old candy corn. Maybe all three of these things will be in there! Parents will love me! hahahaha!

{photo-booth setup} Ok, so I'm not sure how this will work exactly because we're not going to have any paparazzi at the party. BUT I love the idea of having a 'photobooth' setup for some cute pics of little cuties, fams and everyone else in between. This is my dream scenario...
In reality, we'll probably have one pumpkin. HA!
{pumpkin decorating station} I have been so excited for this part since the thought of a fall birthday party popped in my head! What is cuter than some little tikes picking out their own pumpkin then adorning it with fun googly eyes, felt lips and silly hats?! So Autumn may not totally get into this yet, but that's what Mama is there for right?! Yup!
Aside from large amounts of pumpkins (which will probably attribute to most of my budget!), random decorations, leaves, sticks, hay and everything 'fall' I've also been scoping out some of these other items to help bring in the festiveness...
birch straws for sipping apple cider

'Happy Birthday' banner with felt balls
Kraft paper and some chalk
If you can't tell, I am beyond excited for Autumn's birthday party! It will be awesome!

45 Weeks, Zombie Ramblings

I'm writing this post as a zombie. At least that's how I'm feeling this morning. I was hit with some sort of cold at the end of last week and it's unfortunately still lingering around today. It's more of a ridiculously painful sore throat than anything. At any rate, it's making me feel like a walking zombie. So today is all about Grandpa sweaters, hot tea and sunglasses at my desk so I can sleep. I wish.
Started Friday off right. Mom of the Year award?! Yes!
Because of said cold, our weekend wasn't very exciting or eventful. Saturday, I dragged my sore throat ass to the gym. Since Autumn has been waking up ridiculously early, she was already ready for a nap by 8am when I got home. While her and Ernest were sleeping, I got to work on baby food making. We got a truck load of goodies from our organic farm delivery on Friday...butternut squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, peaches, mangos and apples. I only ended up cutting everything because the baby food maker is loud and I didn't want to wake up my sleeping babes.
Once Autumn woke up, we got ready and headed to Ernest's Grandma Barbara's for lunch. They have a farm, basically, so we went exploring for the baby hummingbirds (who had already flown away), saw the teeny-tiniest baby frogs (they were the size of a nickel!) and picked veggies from the garden.
Teeny tiny frogs
Grammy B has a wicked garden! We picked tons of tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, beets, basil, onions and melons. I'm talking bags full of stuff. It was the most I've ever seen come from a personal garden. I was impressed, obviously. Once we finished cleaning everything up, Ernest, Autumn and myself went for a ride on the Rhino. It was so much fun...and relaxing...Autumn fell asleep on that noisy, bumpy little ride! Girlfriend was tired!
Her favorite spot, under the table
For dinner we had pizza and salad. Autumn didn't want anything to do with her food but kept reaching for Ernest's pizza. He gave her the crust of a slice since it was hard and harder to choke on. She LOVED it!!! She went to town on that pizza and ate half of the crust! She even ate a bite of chicken. This may not seem like a big deal but for the pickiest eater, we'll take these small victories!
When I finished making her food on Sunday, it occurred to me...why not just steam everything instead of pureeing it too?! Ding, ding, ding! Why I didn't think of this before is beyond me. I think it may just be in denial that my babe is no longer a little baby! Ha! Well, I gave her some chunks of steamed butternut squash and she ate it all up! I also bought her a cute divider plate from Target. It has anti-slip stuff on the bottom but we could have definitely used some suction cups to hold that sucker in place! Dinner last night consisted of bits of kiwi, apples and a little bit of butternut squash puree. Before I had my revelation to stop mushing all her food, I had already started :( So now I have a bunch of pureed food in the freezer! She's still eating some but not as much. I'm thinking maybe baby smoothies to use all those purees is in order!!
Sunday was Grandpa Eddie's birthday party BBQ. It was delish, as usual! I drove down separately because I left early to see my friend perform in a ballet. It was a super cute James Bond rendition and she totally killed her part! It was a lot of fun! Then it was off to Costco, some lounging around, finished baby food making then Breaking Bad. I was late to jump on the Breaking Bad bandwagon but am totally hooked now! Last week when Autumn was sick, we watched the last season marathon and started watching the new episodes. Since it was filmed in Albuquerque, I love seeing places I recognize! It's a great show, I'm on season 3 on Netflix already! haha.
Guess who was ready for a nap? P.S. We do own a comb.
I'm hoping I get better soon because I have a baseball baby shower cake, a baby shower, a gender reveal party AND a concert...all on Saturday!! Alright, I'm going to go drown myself in cough drops, chamomile tea and face plant into my desk work.

44 Weeks and a fever

The weekend started off great! Friday I bought a few things for Autumns birthday party and some yarn at Hobby Lobby. I have an 80 year old grandma living inside me and around this time she loves to knit or crochet. Ive been obsessed with leg warmers for baby girl and thought Id try to knit some. I got super cute yarn but stay tuned, I'm a hopeless knitter so it may take a year to finish. But I can crochet like a mo fo. Except for Autumns baby blanket I started while prego and have yet to finish ...story of my life.

On Saturday, somebody decided to wake up at 5:20am and since it was my day I was up. Luckily Autumn is extremely cute and Hocus Pocus was on TV! boom! Once the sun came up, we went garage sale-ing and vintage shopping. It's funny how I used to despise both those things but now I love it! Old age?! Maybe. I've been on the hunt for some cool wire baskets and random stuff for the bday party to fill with sticks and other fall goodness. I found some great stuff! And a whole lot of stuff I didn't need. Like a vintage metal fan (I'm obsessed with these!), an old school desk for Autumn and a sweet rocking chair! (80 year old grandma rearing her head again!)
Trying on silly hats
Anyways, once we were done looking at old shit we visited Grandpa Lar-bear. As always, Autumn had the biggest smile for him!
Then we headed to the zoo. At first Autumn couldn't have cared less, she was more interested in the other 'animals' screaming and running around. Did I say animals, I meant kids. The other kids. But once she could see the big animals, like the gorillas and monkeys, she would not stop waving at them and saying 'eh, eh, eh' aka hey, hey, hey. It was so cute!! We just saw the big animals since that's all that really stood out to her. Her favorite was probably the giraffes.
Then we had a little picnic in the park area which included puffs, apple/pear purée and no-longer iced coffee. Yum. She loved eating picnic style!!!
Being fed like an animal
We of course had to see the zoo store but they didn't have what I was looking for...'my first trip to the zoo' shirt! Boo. We had such a blast at the zoo! I love taking her new places and seeing new things. Once we got home she crashed!
Later that night, I made red chili enchiladas for dinner, had some beers and just hung out. Perfect ending to a perfect day!
Sunday came and Autumn woke up around 6. Since I'm a freak and can't even sleep in on my day to sleep in, I got her and took her back to our bed. Girlfriend was cranky! I rocked her to sleep in my arms and we were all able to sleep for a lot longer.
I got up and did one of the hardest workout of my life with my dads trainer for one of her cross-fit classes. We ran 3 flights of stairs 4 times, mountain climbers, 10 pull ups, sprints then pushed a huge tire 10 times! And repeated this insanity again! Then it was 30 push ups and 3 minutes of the hardest abs workout I've done (hello c-section!). It was brutal. I felt it the next day for sure!

When I got home Autumn was asleep again which was abnormal. When she woke up she had a horrible fever. Her normally porcelain cheeks were rosy red like a little tomato. I can only think its teething. She doesn't have any signs of anything else except for buckets of drool she is leaving trailed throughout the house. The rest or the day consisted of us taking turns holding her while she slept, trying to soothe her and cool her down. We even took her for a ride so she'd sleep. She still had a fever when I put her down for the evening. Poor baby had the saddest most miserable look on her face all day! It breaks my heart. She would try playing but just couldn't so we snuggled instead.
Monday she woke up with the same fever so I called in sick to hang with the babe. We had a lot more snuggles, very little nap time (boo!) and lots of random TV. I made a blanket bed in the living room and we watched Christmas Vacation. Finally by mid-day the fever broke and she was back to playing.
I'm happy to report she woke up 100% better this morning!!! She was her happy, silly, smiley little self and we were so happy she was! We hated seeing her so miserable and sad!
