Oh, hey Friday

I've been talking about decorating our room for ages and guess what? I finally made some progress this week! We still have a long ways to go because our room is really long, big and awkward but it's definitely headed in the right direction. And by right direction, I mean 50 shades of grey...
We like grey.

A lot.

Obviously.

Someone else likes all the grey too...
West Elm was having a great sale last week so I scooped up a pretty duvet. It's sooo soft! I snagged the pillows from Home Goods as well as the rugs. Oh the rugs, I swear they were a lot bigger in the store! I may have to look for some other ones later. The curtains and mirrors above the bed are from TJ Max (because I'm a maxanista!). I used our old lamp bases and just got some new shades until I really find what I want. Everything else was what we already had that I rearranged a bit, for the time being. What I'd still love to add...

//one. a plank wall //
Since the room is so long, it really needs something with a big impact to create that coziness and depth I'm looking for. I thought a plank wall would be perfect for that! It'll add a lot of impact, warmth and texture. I haven't decided whether I want to do the fireplace wall or the wall with my vanity. I'm also torn between a nice rich warm wood stain or a mix of a whitewash, minty color and natural wood. Decisions, decisions. Thoughts?
Source. Their renovation is awesome!!
//two. throw pillows and shams//
Here's a secret, I actually hate throw pillows. They get in the way, you always have to move them and just generally annoy me. Like on Along Came Polly where she's helping him stuff TONS of throw pillows into a chest and they finally rip the pillows to shreds. That's my dream. BUT they do add so much to a room. Guess I'll suck it up for the sake of design, sigh. Anyways, throw pillows. Probably some peach/coral to add some colors to the 50 shades of grey. And, these ones are still on sale, boom!

//three. mantle//
I googled 'how to decorate a mantle' and discovered there is a whole science behind it! Did you know that?! This is one of my fav examples...one large element, a medium grouping on the side and a grouping of smaller items on the other side. Done and done.
Source
//four. lamps//
I spotted these lamps at Pottery Barn and immediately fell in love...until I saw the price tag. I saw some at Costco that had the glass base but they just weren't 'it'. I may need to save some more pennies for these bad boys.

//five. blankets//
There's a few things I collect, not intentionally. Jackets (I have an embarrassing amount), yarn (duh) and blankets. We have a closet full of blankets, Autumn has an entire cabinet in her room full of her blankets (I passed down my obsession) and I still can't get enough. I'd love one...or ten...of these cozy puppies!

 This list of things we 'need' could go on and on! I'm still on the hunt for an armoire/TV stand, a loveseat by the fire, bigger rugs, a bench, a mirror for my vanity and wall art/things. Oh and pallets, preferably free pallets...and power tools, lots and lots of power tools!

Linking up with Karli and Amy today for Oh Hey, Friday!

Happy Friday and almost Weekend!

Our Trip to the 'Baaath'

We headed to the lake Saturday morning for lots of sun, fun and sand. Autumn was in heaven with the 'baaath'! Sand and water are two of her favorite things so it was destined to be a win.You know what doesn't go with the lake? Phones and water = no bueno. Phones + no way to charge= no bueno. My pictures are limited :(
Autumn mostly played on the shore where she could safely splash around and plop her booty in the water but could still play with the sand. She was not a huge fan of swimming though. Next time.
We took her out on the boat and she did great! The life jacket annoyed the crap out of her but other than that she loved the boat! She was waving at the ducks, kept saying 'weeee' and waving to all the other boats. She even started to fall asleep a couple times! We took her swimming in the middle of nowhere and she did a little better for a bit but eventually started fussing again. On the last day the water was much calmer and she even got to drive the boat! ;)
Saturday evening a big storm started coming in and it got super windy. This hampered many of our plans but we made the most of it. Eventually it passed and we were able to have a fire and some chocolate chip cookie s'mores. OMG so good! I didn't get a pic because it was gone before I remembered.
There was sooo much going on that Autumn did not want to take a nap. At all. She started to crash hard after dinner and finally fell asleep...even with our very rude neighbors that were blaring music until 10:30pm! Surprisingly she slept thru the night (with one little wake-up) and was ready to go again on Sunday.
It was more beach, playing and packing up. UGH, packing up gives me the yucks! It has to be the worst part of lake trips.
All in all we had a successful first lake trip with a toddler! She LOVED all the wawa and sand and was running around like a happy little girl. We'll hopefully be making at least one more trip before the summer is over.

Oh Hey Friday

This post is brought to you by my excitement for this weekends lake trip. The lake goes with summer like coffee and donuts, koozies and beer, tanning oil sunscreen and sun, you get it. Here are a few things we'll be trying out this weekend..
//one//
s'mores. I LOVE s'mores. They say 'summer' to me more than anything. Stepping it up a notch you sandwich two chocolate chip cookies instead of graham crackers. #heartattack
Via
//two//
Midnight Glow Stick Bowling. Say what?! It's easy: glow sticks in bottles, ball, beer and fun.
Via Broken link :(
//three//
Make a sandcastle. This is probably hopeful thinking because anytime we build one in Autumn's sandbox she immediately knocks it down! It'll be fun to play in the sand nonetheless. Also accompanying our sand is a Costco size bottle of baby powder. It takes sand off the skin like magic! Magic, I tell a!

//four//
lake time=beer time. 'Nuff said.
Via
//five//
 Relaxing! Or as much as you can do with a toddler. Aside from boating, swimming and all the other lake shenanigans, I fully intend on kicking my feet back and relaxing. If I only get to one of these this weekend, it'll be this one. And maybe #4 ;)

Happy Friday!!

Today I'm linking up with Karli and Amy for a Friday 5. Head on over and checkout their blogs!

Our Weekend + 4th of July

Our 4th of July was a little less traditional than years past, but nonetheless fun. We started Thursday night off playing outside with colored bubbles and letting Autumn run around looking like a festive little firecracker.
Cousin 'Toria painted her piggies patriotic
I took her to my parents house where we lit sparklers for her and played outside. Then, on the way home, I got caught in a crazy thunderstorm that forced me to take shelter at a gas station. It was cray!!

We're taking Autumn on her first lake trip this coming weekend and it'll be her first time on a boat. We wanted to make sure we are on top of our boating game so we headed to the lake on Friday. Solo. Well Ernest's sister and cousins came with us but Autumn got to spend the day hanging out with my parents. We figured it'd be way too hot for her and hard for just a day trip, plus it was super crowded and the water was pretty choppy. Pretty much, we wanted to feel comfortable with the boat again since the last time we went I was pregnant which was 2 years ago! There was a bit of a learning curve...

Lesson 1: Always, always wear sunscreen! I have to admit that I'm horrible about wearing sunscreen. It's not that I forget so much as I want a glorious bronze tan. I really needed a tan so I didn't put any sunscreen on. I know, I know, awful. Well I more than payed for it. Not only did I not put sunscreen on, I also forgot I'm on a very strong dose of antibiotics to get rid of a lingering sinus infection. Long story short, I am  50 shades of lobster. Blistering, don't breath on me, get me out of my skin sunburn. No sympathy deserved.

Lesson 2: Never, ever jump off a boat. I was going to get the truck and trailer to load up the boat, the boat bounced off the dock, I thought I was a gazelle and jumped from the boat. The second my foot left the boat I knew it was bad. It was. I hit the dock, landed in the water, truck keys in hand, trying desperately not to fall in with the keys. Some very kind soul helped me up onto the dock. I have a bruise that goes the length of my body and a bruise the size of Texas on my ego. Major facepalm.

So ya, the lake was lots of fun, until it wasn't. Once we got home, I powered through so we could take Autumn to see fireworks by our house. By 8:30pm they still hadn't gone off, Autumn was tired and cranky and so were we. By 9pm we called it a night and went to bed. Lame.
Mom, really? Another picture? #overit

Saturday and Sunday I waddled around covered in aloe and bruises and not feeling very well. Luckily I had an excuse to stay home since I had to finish all my Brickyard Buffalo orders. They're almost all out the door, yay!

We managed to get out of the house Saturday night and headed to my Aunt and Uncles house to watch the UFC fights. Autumn had an absolute blast! She splashed her feet in the hot tub, danced in the rain, and showed off her mad yoga skills! She was the life of the party and ate up every sweet second of it. Autumn stayed up way past her bedtime and crashed hard in the car then slept in until almost 8:30am! Total win!

The rest of the weekend was just our usual shenanigans, lots of aloe and yarn. I am SOOO excited for this coming weekend! We'll be taking Autumn for lots of firsts this weekend...first lake trip, boat trip and camping experience. I can't wait for her to play in the sand, take her swimming and eat lots of s'mores!

Last night we celebrated my Dad's birthday. We had so much fun with our silly girl. We taught her to say 'Hap brrday Papa!'. Absolute, freakin cutests thing on earth!
Band-aid obsessed.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Now back to wishing it was the weekend and lake time!

21 Months

We are nearing the 2 year mark WAY TOO FAST! I love watching Autumn grow and become a tiny little human, but holy hell it is going by entirely too fast! Cue the tears.

Now that I've wiped the tears from my keyboard and the mascara from my eyes, lets move on...
//Height/Weight//
31.75" and 22.6lbs.

//Clothes//
18-24 month clothes. She officially outgrew her size 4 shoes overnight. I have yet to find a great shoe. The soles are either too rigid, ugly or...I'm just picky.

//Sleep//
Like a champ! She has been going through a major growth spurt so naps have been long and she's ready for bed by 7:30pm and sleeps until 7am.
//Eating//
 I am going to start training her to be a Master Sommelier because our gal has one sophisticated palette. She likes wild caught salmon (that is too fishy for me), balsamic broccoli and spinach artichoke dip with gouda cheese. Seriously? Who is this child? Maybe I'm just not cooking fancy enough for her! :)

Or she likes really simple stuff like toast with butter, mac-n-cheese, 'yo-gert' and cereal.
Post chocolate croissant
//Teeth//
Her mouth just keeps filling in. She's up to 4 molars now and 8 teeth with two vampire teeth (or whatever they're called) coming in...I think. She will bite you if you try to look.

//Health//
Oh, this has been a challenge. She is feeling well but we've been dealing with some major digestive issues and as a result bad diaper rash. I took her to the doctor last Monday and they said she's got Toddlers Diarrhea. It's chronic diarrhea caused by a too fast moving large intestine that doesn't hold water and instead eliminates it. Since she's growing well, it's harmless and she'll grow out of it. To be sure it's nothing else, we have to add a lot more fat to her diet and keep a food and potty diary for a month.

Adding fat has made a huge improvement!  The tricky part is getting her to eat it but I've been managing to outsmart our picky little eater!

If things continue to improve, we won't have to do anything. If not, then we have to do lots of testing. We're confident it has to do with her diet since she's super picky and difficult to feed. We're just glad the doctor finally listened to us and made some real recommendations after dealing with this for far too long! Luckily it doesn't bother Autumn unless she gets the rash.

//Words-Phrases//
Autumn literally says everything we say. She is forming intelligible sentences, complex phrases and just blowing our minds. It's so awesome to be able to really have conversations with her and get a real response! She is quite the chatterbox too and is always saying something!
She also says her name now and it's the cutest! It sounds more like 'Adam' or 'a-umm' but we can't get enough of it! She's really starting to pickup everyone else's names too.

Our favorite phrases: I hold you, I huuuungee, Ticker, peez Mama? (sticker, please)

//Learning//
She's learning to count, her ABC's, colors and shapes! Autumn loves to make animal noises on cue. My favorite is bee...'bzzzzz' with hand movements and a coyote 'oww, oww, owwww'!

This totally goes under learning...she'll toot, spill something, etc. and then yells 'Jack!' Blaming the dog starts early :/ Poor Jack, Jack.

//Personality//
She is completely different around us or family, but in a new setting she is very quiet, shy and reserved. Usually she'll warm up after a little while. Except, when we met my friends at the farmers market and she would not leave my lap, didn't want to share her kitty and wanted nothing to do with my friends daughter. We'll blame it on not having a nap. Yeah...right.
We're trying to put her in more situations where she'll open up a bit more. We're hoping to get her into swim lessons, a tumbling class and some other things. But, do you know how hard it is to find those classes at times convenient to working parents?! Near impossible! Seriously, every class is at like 10am on a Tuesday. Totally convenient.

//Likes//
#1. Being outside! #2. Elmo #3. My makeup, jewelry and chapstick. #4. Singing and dancing #Taking selfies, looking at pictures of herself and watching videos of herself, and...
stickers! yoga, kitties, her fish, teasing Jack, airplanes, trucks, motorcycles (who says those things are just for boys?!), our phones, and everything we have.
//Dislikes//
 Ants- she freaks out if she sees lint or something in the bath resembling an ant. Not being able to go outside. Kids. She's pretty easy going otherwise, haha ;)

It's been so much fun getting out and exploring lots of new things with Autumn. She really is at such a great age/stage in her life and we are enjoying every minute. This coming weekend we're off for her first lake trip and cannot wait to see if she loves it as much as we do!

We love you little bunny!

Hey, Hey!

You know what never gets old? Shameless self promotion! So here we go again.

I teamed up with the amazing Brickyard Buffalo to sell my heart garlands. They are only available  until Thursday for 34% off! So run, don't walk, and go get yours! There are three options you can choose from:

1. You pick 3 colors of your choice from the available colors. You can add some decoration to your baby's room, office OR really be ahead of your game and think about the holiday's that are quickly approaching. A little orange and black, maybe some red and green or something fall inspired.

2. The ever popular grey, white and yellow combo. I have two of these hanging in Autumn's room and they look just adorable!

3. One of my fav color combos that just screams summer to me: neon coral, teal and white. It's so fresh and summery. It'd make the perfect addition to a patio!
And don't forget to check out the cool mixed media art I have in my shop! Now, back to...

Happy Wednesday 'Thursday'!
